here's hoping the late spring/early summer is treating you well..... did you catch the Zappa Plays Zappa shows??? I have been hearing nothing but good news (except for D'Weasel's insistence on slagging every band , including us, that has worked so hard to keep his Dad's music alive while he was hosting bullshit Food Network shows)

but, i digress

I personally missed the shows 'cos i was real busy with my new gig -- Guitar Tech/Road Manager for 'Another Great Italian'....the one and only Al Di Meola!

yes indeed, it's a crazy story and i'll tell it someday, but basically i have just done a short tour with the man, one that quickly spanned from way northern Canada all the way down to Chattanooga Tennessee... it was amazing, his band is amazing, and watching Al burn down the house from 20 ft away every night has made my life. Another one of my guitar heroes, and an inspiration to me for well over 25 years...working with Al is a complete trip and he has endorsed my hard work by personally asking me to join him again on tour this coming fall 2006.

He has an amazing new CD coming out on SEP 26 - 'The Consequences Of Chaos' (Telarc) - it features old friends and co-conspirators Barry Miles, Chick Corea, John Pattitucci and Steve Gadd as special guests, as well as his killer long time band featuring Gumbi Ortiz , Ernie Adams and Mario Parmisano.
Al delivers a smorgasbord of tasty guitar-- classical, PRS, Ovation acoustic, VG88 tones, and more. He also turns in some keyboard work via the groundbreaking Korg OASYS

We will tour the USA and Europe in support of it - the first leg of this tour goes from about Oct 10-Nov 10, give or take a week..... and then we plan to do some stuff in Asia in the Winter of 2007.. stay tuned!!

What does this all mean for Project/;Object??? Well-- we were taking the fall off anyway... drummer Eric Slick is about to tour with ADRIAN BELEW, and bassist Dave Johnsen has been doing mucho road work with his own band QUISQUEYA as well as Gregg Bendian's THE MAHAVISHNU PROJECT, while keys player Eric Svalgard is busy preparing for the opening of his very own School Of Rock in Wilimington Delaware, on July 1 2006...

so - we're swamped... with music!! I am also currently booking some dates for Al , as well as another Don Preston lecture/performance tour for september-october. stay tuned for details on ALL of the above ....and we are happy to say that the very capable Zappa plays Zappa will more that keep y'all happy and filled with Zappa music, which has always been our goal!! Too bad, the bitter, insane, musically-ignorant Gail Zappa can't find it in her 'heart' to say a word of support or Thanks to any of us, the ingrate.!!

Retired Command Sergeant Major Eric Haney, founding member of the military's elite covert counter-terrorist unit, Delta force, has stated publicly for the record that he sees the war in Iraq as an 'Utter debacle' based on intentions by the Bush administration that were 'not what they stated' and that 'there is no real threat to the U.S. in the world'.

Haney made the comments in an exclusive interview with David Kronke for the LA Daily News published yesterday.

After Haney retired from the military his book 'Inside Delta Force' became the basis for the hit CBS drama 'The Unit,' where he now assumes technical adviser and executive producer duties.

When questioned on Iraq Haney responded with the following:

Utter debacle. But it had to be from the very first. The reasons were wrong. The reasons of this administration for taking this nation to war were not what they stated. (Army Gen.) Tommy Franks was brow-beaten and ... pursued warfare that he knew strategically was wrong in the long term. That's why he retired immediately afterward. His own staff could tell him what was going to happen afterward.

We have fomented civil war in Iraq. We have probably fomented internecine war in the Muslim world between the Shias and the Sunnis, and I think Bush may well have started the third world war, all for their own personal policies.
